After working at the Animal Nutrition Department in Ajinomoto Headquarters from 2002 to 2010, was assigned as an expatriate at Ajinomoto Heartland, Inc. (presently Ajinomoto Animal Nutrition North America, Inc.) in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. to launch a new business of a rumen-protected lysine product, AjiPro®-L.
Spent seven years (2010 – 2017) in Chicago to manage the business operation and business planning of AjiPro®-L, returned to Ajinomoto Research Institute for Bioscience Products and Fine Chemicals in Japan in 2017.

Matthew Smith began his career working on a dairy farm in the United Kingdom before receiving a business law degree from Coventry University and the College of Law, Chester.
Working in the feed industry for more than 25 years — 19 of which have been with Alltech — Smith has travelled extensively in Asia, Europe and North America. Smith relocated from the U.K. to become the general manager of Alltech New Zealand in 2009. In July 2011, he was promoted to the position of vice president of Asia-Pacific. This region is considered Alltech’s fastest-growing sales market, where the brand enjoys the challenges of delivering value across the dynamics of the food chain, from farm to feed mill to retailer.
Although he still holds reporting responsibility for Asia-Pacific, Smith has relocated back to the U.K. once again and is also responsible for reporting on Alltech’s business within that country. He also supports Alltech’s rumen function platform.
Hong Yang is Director of Asia Pacific of ADM Animal Nutrition. Mr. Yang joined ADM in 1998 as manager of swine research in Quincy, Illinois office, then in 2004 took on additional responsibility of swine technical service for USA market. In 1998, Mr. Yang was appointed to be Director of Asia Pacific, responsible for both feed premix business in the region and ADM amino acids/feed additive exports to the region. Before Mr. Yang came to U.S., he had worked for CP China for 5 years as a technical service manager. Mr. Yang is an active member of American Society of Animal Science. Erwin Suwendi is Head of Nutrition and QC at Aquaculture Division of JAPFA Group, one of the leading agri-food companies in Asia. Miao Weimin, MSc. has worked as the Aquaculture Officer at the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific since 2008. He started his career at the Freshwater Fisheries Research Centre (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS) in 1982 after graduating from the Shanghai Fisheries University with a Bachelor degree majoring in inland fisheries. He first worked as a research associate in fisheries enhancement and aquaculture in inland open waters. He joined the Training Division of FFRC after completion of a master program on aquaculture in the University of the Philippines in 1986 and worked as a lecturer/ associate researcher and later the chief of the division. He was appointed by CAFS as Deputy Director of FFRC in 1994 and had been in charge of international training and education, research and international cooperation until he joined FAO. He was the professor, postgraduate supervisor and the vice dean of the Fisheries College of Nanjing Agriculture University from 1994 to 2008. In addition to his management work, he led and participated in over a dozen of major national and internationally collaborated research projects on carp genetic improvement, fisheries/aquaculture socio-economics and policy, aquaculture environment, community-based fish culture and integrated aquaculture systems. Since he joined FAO, Mr. Miao has been responsible for coordinating FAO aquaculture programme activities in the Asia-Pacific region, which include planning and implementation of FAO regular aquaculture program work, supporting aquaculture and inland fisheries development in the FAO member countries through developing and technically leading and backstopping field projects and providing policy and technical advice to FAO member countries and aquaculture related regional organizations and fora. He is currently leading a FAO Regional Initiative on Blue Growth in Asia-Pacific.

Dr Sonevilay Nampanya, national of Lao PDR, has joined FAO- Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific as Livestock Development Officer.
He completed a degree on Animal Veterinary Bioscience with honors and Ph.D from the University of Sydney, Australia in 2009 and 2015, respectively.
His PhD research focused on the enhancement of smallholder livestock farmers knowledge; attitude; practice on TADs risk management and village-level biosecurity practices for improvement on livestock production and income; contributing to poverty alleviation and improved food security in South-East Asian region.
Following the competition of his PhD, he joined two Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research Australian Centre research projects (ACIAR AH 2012 068 & 067 projects) on cattle health and production as a leading project research officer. Dr. Nampanya has been a leading author in over 20 scientific papers published in international journals over the past 10 years.

Scholarship. Before he took the charge as a Director General, Dr. Sarker worked as different capacities in this institute. Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor (Animal Nutrition) Department of Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna, India is working in the field of Animal Nutrition and Feed technology for last 17 years. Dr. Rommel Sulabo is from Los Baños, Laguna, the Philippines. He obtained a BS in Agriculture at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 1997, majoring in Animal Science and specializing in Poultry Nutrition. His undergraduate research focused on microbial phytase supplementation in layer diets. He then worked in the animal feed industry for 5 years as an R & D nutritionist and extension specialist, and became an advocate for Filipino swine farmers. In 2003, he received his MS degree in Swine Nutrition at South Dakota State University through a Fulbright scholarship under the supervision of Drs. Bob Thaler and Hans Stein. His research focused on the effects of body weight and physiological status on phosphorus digestibility and phytase efficacy in pigs. In 2009, Dr. Sulabo obtained his PhD degree in Swine Nutrition at Kansas State University with Dr. Mike Tokach as his major adviser. His dissertation was on the effects of creep feeding on individual consumption characteristics and growth performance of neonatal and weaned pigs. He also performed research on liquid feeding, boar feeding strategies, development of allometric models in pigs, specialty feed ingredients, and various feed additives for nursery pigs and sows. After earning his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoc in the Stein lab before returning to the Philippines. Dr. Sulabo now works as a professor, and the head of the Animal Nutrition Division, at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños.

Arnold P Sinurat is a research professor at the Ministry of Agriculture –Republic of Indonesia. Most of his research was related to the poultry nutrition such as defining nutrient requirements of chickens and ducks in the tropic and technologies on improving nutritive values of local feedstuffs for poultry. In the last decade, his research interest focused on the technology to produce enzyme and plant bioactive for use as feed additives to replace antibiotic growth promoters. He is also a member of feed commissioner at the Ministry of Agriculture which involved in building regulations and standard for animal feed and feedstuffs.

Victor Suresh started his professional career in R&D at Ralston Purina International and has been in the animal feed sector for the past 22 years specializing in formulation, new product development, technical marketing, and business management. In 2011 he founded United Research (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., a company that provides technical and R&D services to the aquaculture feed industry and has feed and feed additive manufacturing clients in Asia and America.
Sonny P. Tababa serves as Biotechnology Affairs Director of CropLife Asia (CLA), a regional unit of CropLife International, a plant science industry association. She promotes approaches leading towards access to agricultural innovations in seeds including plant biotechnology as well as safe and responsible agriculture. Her work ranges from policy advocacy, knowledge management, technology transfer, coordination and networking. With previous work engagements at the Southeast Asian Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCARRD).
Ms. Tababa completed her MS in Agronomy at the University of the Philippines Los Banos.
Dr Akio TAKENAKA is currently the President of Japan Scientific Feeds Association (JSFA) in Tokyo from June 2018. He obtained his PhD in 1988 from the University of Tokyo (Japan). He has been a Director of the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), National Institute of Livestock and Grassland Science (NILGS), and the National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences (NIAS) for totally 7 years. He has also been a Council member of Agricultural Materials in MAFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishery) from 2013 to 2016. He retired from NIAS in March 2016, and has been the Deputy Director of the Food and Fertilizer Technology Center (FFTC) in Taiwan for 2 years until April 2018.

Ernest joined UOB in Jul 2018 and initiated coverage of the Animal Protein sector within UOB’s Sector Solutions Group (SSG). He now leads the strategic direction of the Animal Protein sector, providing insights and developing value propositions for UOB’s clients across all markets in Asia.
Before joining UOB, Ernest spent more than 8 years with DBS servicing a portfolio of large Asian corporates during which he originated and advised on several financing transactions across Asia. Ernest was also part of the team which initiated coverage of the Animal Protein sector as part of the Food & Beverage team during his time with the bank.
Ernest started his career with Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd where he covered clients in the Commodities and Shipping industries. Overall, he has accumulated almost 12 years of experience in the banking industry.
Sam Weatherlake joined Feedinfo in February 2019 and is currently developing a Supply & Demand Database for feed additives. He previously worked as an analyst at ICIS from 2014-2018, and before that was a price reporter for eight years covering the petrochemical and fertilizer markets.
Professor Cheol-Heui YUN grew up in Gwang-ju, in the southwest of the Republic of Korea. He was educated at the Chonnam National University for B. Sc. and the Seoul National University for his M. Sc. in the area of Animal Nutrition. Professor YUN completed his Ph. D. at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada in the area of immune modulation and mucosal immunology. Then, he pursued his professional career at leading research institutes at different region of the world including International Vaccine Institute (IVI, Korea), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA, USA), National Institutes of Health (NIH, USA) and Gothenburg University (Sweden) where he undertook research related to stressors, vaccine, infection and host (both animals and human) protective immunity. He was invited as a professor at Seoul National University since 2006. He currently serves as (review) editors of a number of societies including World Journal of Immunology, Frontiers in Immunology (Molecular Innate Immunity Section, and Cytokines and Soluble Mediators in Immunity Section), Journal of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, Scientific World Journal, and Science Editing. He currently serves as a Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Asian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences. He is also actively involved in Ethical issues, acting as a Chair of Committee on Publication Ethics, Korean Council of Science Editors. As far as research goes, his interest has focused on the action mechanism of stresses and modulation of host immune responses, interactive mucosal immunity, and immunometabolism.
Angela Zhang graduated as an MBA from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with exchange study in University of Leeds. Before joined IQC Insights, she worked as Senior Analyst and Project Manager in a global professional services provider, which is the vendor of Top 3 consulting firms. As Head of the Business Intelligence Division at IQC Insights, she has been responsible for writing the company’s periodically-updated and customized pork reports with in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis.
She is experienced in analyzing the production, import, consumption and price trend of China’s pork market together with the latest domestic industry movement and forecast Besides working as Specialist Contributor to The Pig Site by analyzing hot spots in China’s pork industry, she also acted as Company Supervisor for the ICP Project of Emlyon Business School, Asia Campus.
As an industry expert, she has been interviewed and quoted by many top-level media worldwide, such as China Daily, Wall Street Journal, Associated Press and South China Morning Post.
